Today’s guest is Jared Westreich, a resident in the Davenport area of Toronto. Jared has been leading an advocacy campaign asking the city to replace the existing hockey rink that has been closed for improvements to the Wallace Emerson park. He’s brought together a community that includes landscape engineers, city planners, park staff, and other activists in a grassroots effort to keep precious recreational facilities available to residents that increasingly want to experience the many benefits of playing outside with their neighbours. When he's not busy advocating in support of community recreational space he works for a medical technology startup, developing methods for early Alzheimer's detection.
