David Ricci, city council candidate for Don Valley West in Ward 15, has used his direct knowledge of the crisis in addiction and mental health to forge a path where, when he’s not working for the school board and standing up for fellow employees, he’s advocating for a better approach to mental health in this city and hosting get to know your neighbour gatherings. David speaks about how zoning bylaws and development fees can be modified to give life to new housing projects, rather than killing them. He shares with us his desire to end the “war on washrooms” and ensure we have widespread parks and splash pads for the countless Torontonians living in apartments or condos without private outdoor space, residents for whom the city is their backyard.
